15 February 2005
Our suave and debonair Toastmaster for the evening was Shegun Olusanya, who delivered the goods with style. We were welcomed with the question 'What did you do for Valentine's Day?' Which got multifarious responses. Who did well? And who, ahem, did not do so well, now we'll move on! Swiftly!

The functionaries for the night were Mr. Vice as Timekeeper, our pilot in charge of time with an eager temptation to use the Bell Of Shame. Carol West was Grammarian and the word of the day was 'Audacious'.

The Speeches.

Joan Jardine, 'Looking For a Home' - Speech #2
Joan is preparing for a time when she can't look after herself. Personally I feel that is a very, very long way off. There are some things that she'll be insisting on though. Varied ethnic food, dumplings or swordfish and that type of stuff.

Breakfast in bed, an on-sweet bathroom and her collection of Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder. She will be 'Breaking up the house' while sipping Port and Sherry, much better than sleeping pills. An absolutely hilarious speech that any CTM would be proud of.

Pankaj Patel, 'Make Money or Save Money' - Speech #3
Making you business work is not an easy task, you'll need to overcome
objectives and hurdles and find out where to get the money. Dedication is as vital as time and money. Informative and clear and spoken magnificently.

Hanna Hunter, 'Needs' - #5
What are your needs? What are your wants? What are your desires? Love?
Affection? Carol Vorderman?' Lead a life fulfilled and realize who you are. Hanna introduced us to A. Marlows' Self Actualization chart, which includes Physiological, safety, Belonging and Self esteem. A well presented and thought-provoking speech that asked us all 'What're we doing?'

David Langworthy, 'A Special Club Climate' - EDU 'What do we need to make the right club climate?' Creating the right atmosphere for your club is important, we need to mix sunshine with light watering in order to till the soil and watch our club bloom. Do we set a good example for others? We all have a duty and if we all work together the club will flourish. Well constructed and marvellously spoken a gem of an educational speech.

Evaluators were, Alan Gayle, Jackie Barrie and Godfrey Nurse who were all out-standing and gave us three great examples of how evaluations should be done.

The Table topics mistress for the night was Sami Animashaun. The subject about relationships was fitting for the time of year. Thanks to the speakers and guests who participated in the session.
