Alex Ward sprang into action as toastmaster, reminding everyone to take out their mobile phone and place it into a glass of water, and introduced us to his lovely assistants Charles Njoku as time keeper and Hannah Hunter as grammarian.
The four main entertainers made it an “inspiring” evening of which our grammarian would have undoubtedly been proud.
Mathew Dickson’s Icebreaker “The Woolly Mammoth” took us through his life story, building up to a powerful message: “Sacrifice things you want now for the future, it’s worth it”.
Munawar Malik followed with his no.2 “Marketing” – the complete seven minute guide to corporate sales, PR and promotion.
Ore Ogungbayi’s no. 6 taught us about “Failing Forward” by learning from our mistakes. After all, “In life you have to kiss many frogs before you find your prince”.
Dayo Olomu rounded off with his no. 7: “Who wants to be a millionaire?”, with some useful tips on taking control of your life and retiring wealthy!
After the break, Beatrice Nabulya took us on a philosophical journey through her topics session and introduced us to some of our guests for the evening.
Thanks to our team of evaluators for accentuating the learning experience: David Langworthy, Francoise Emery, Niki Ajayi, Richie Johnson, Godfrey Nurse, Dilsiri Abeyakoon and our Treasurer David West, who rounded off his general evaluation with the following words: “It’s a great club. But we run on money, not love”.
That’s right, folks. It’s time to renew your membership dues…
