The first speech #4 'Greetings' talked about the various ways we greet each other. The differences how people communicate awareness of each others presence. The goodbye are just as important as the hellos. Tonight there was a sad goodbye. Over a year ago on a cold October's evening Andrew arrived at the club for the very first time. The table topics contest was in progress. He was asked to comment on a famous person. He stood up and frooze but tonight he impromptously did his Speech #10. So much has changed for him since joining Toastmasters. He is able to get his point of views across, and he is now a Competent Communicator. He thanked thoses for their encouragement, mothering, affectionate laugther and valuable support. We all wish him well on his move to Wales and we hope he will join a club nearby. Three years ago Frank told us he threw his TV out the window (hope the window was open). There was too much news about wars and disasters. We should be working towards peace. The title of Frank's # 8 speech was 'Peace in our time'. He has enthusiasm for life as life is special and we should be building bridges of understanding among ourselves. The table topics discussed well known people from politicial leaders, authors, sports, charity organisations with some interesting sayings said by them. How many of us will be remembered in years to come? Our guest Adam with his eloquence gave the best table topic. To top the evening our toastmaster Joan, who last year won the evaluator's contest gave us her comments and valuable tips on what to look for when doing an evaluation. The next meeting in on the 17th March. It will be a contest evening with Inspiritional speeches and an evaluation contest. The more people the merrier! Deirdre
