Charter Night 2004

30th November 2004 was Charter Night!

The night was a fantastic success, a celebration of the Club and the joy and happiness it brings to us all.

Our Toastmaster Mr. Vice had the audience in stitches as he took us through the night with his indefatigable panache.

David Thompson, Shared with us a little history of the humble beginning of our favorite speaking club way back in February 2003 in the wretched Bedford Tavern. He introduced many members of Toastmaster from all around: District Governors and Area Governors and those who were wearing the shinny medals around there necks and our dear President, Richie Dayo Johnson was rewarded for his dedication with his own shiny medal.

Certificates were handed out to founding members. Food was gorged upon and wine was consumed at a staggering pace.

We were delighted with two fabulous speeches from David West and Jo de Souza (stop it Jo that might be watching again!) and humored with a short comedy sketch about Public School Life from the funny men of the Speakers of Croydon, Martin Howden and Alex Ward.

The raffle was a huge success raising over £80 for the club. Congratulations to all the winners and participants and huge thanks must go to Carol West, organizer extraordinaire!

Could there be anymore? Certainly! Mince Pies and Coffee. Mmmmmm... pie...
